Why we love this
Far East by Cecil Beaton. London: Batsford, 1945. First UK printing, dedicated to Diana Cooper. Beaton was sent to India and China by the British during the last years of the war. Having survived a plane crash and the rigors of appalling conditions in both countries, Beaton finally makes it to New York. His characteristically honest observations are illustrated by excellent photos and drawings that look like they were made from photos. Slight chipping to dust jacket edge and owner dedication.
