Why we love this
Vintage 4-panel Japanese Byobu Screen depicting Mandarin Ducks in a pond, iris flowers, pine trees and blossoming sakura. Mandarin Ducks are symbol of fidelity, happy love and marriage in Japanese & Chinese cultures. Paper matting, lacquered wood frame with original hardaware. Two Asian style brass hangers attached to the frame. Fabric and paper back. Water damage on the back of one panel, but the entire painting has no damage. Minor age wear. Signed by the artist. Japan, circa 1940-1960s.
