Batten Road was born in the ‘70s when a crazed book-lover returned from college to work in Soho at one of the country's (world's??) most famous Art & Architecture bookstores. To feed the addiction (and rent), she quickly picked up two other jobs so the love affair with books need not end. Eventually, the addiction grew to hunting for wonderful decorative accessories, furniture, tabletop and lighting.
Why we love this
Lady Chatterley's Lover by D.H. Lawrence. Grove Press, 1957. First American edition, early printing. 368 pages. Includes dust jacket. The first unabridged American edition from a major publisher of the author's third and final version of Lady Chatterley. It was first published in Italy in 1928. Although banned for decades and the subject of litigation, it is now viewed as a major work of English literature and tame by today's standards. Some wear on jacket and cover.
