This is a large fabulous Hand Carved and Hand Painted Wood Stool/table from the Nupe Tribe of Nigeria. These stools are carved out of a single piece of wood with intricate patterns and colors. The Nupe people live along the banks of the Niger river. Their art is non-figurative and mostly decorative and are presented to brides by their grooms. Traditionally they are used as prestige objects on market days during important meetings. Stands on six shaped legs. Minor wear and chips.
