Pair of French Neo-Classical Pedestals
A decorative pair of French Pedestals made of painted and gilded plaster, circa 1940s. The style mixes Neo-Classical, second Empire and Louis XVI. The pedestals are painted in yellow-green tones with gilded motifs of urns, arabesques and birds. The ionic style tops have scrolls and palmette decor. The pedestal shape is called a gaine in French, meaning a quadrangular pillar diminishing towards the plinth base. Note that the pedestals are fragile and will need to be crated for transportation
