Rare pair of 19th century Chinese hand carved wood statues of deers or does. Decorated with pieces of glass. Hand painted in very dark brown, almost ebony black and gold color paint. The original finish was probably black lacquer. Refinished sometime in the 20th century. Detailed. Very good condition - some age wear, small repair on the ring around one ear, as it is shown on one of the images, clean, sturdy, very heavy. China, 19th c., c. 1850s. Each piece is approximately 24"W x 12"D x 20.5"H.
