Entitled Embrace, this work is a late-1970s lithograph printed in Paris on Arches paper utilizing traditional stone plates. Russian by birth, Marc Chagall was educated in St. Petersburg and Paris, eventually emigrating to France in 1923. Although influenced early on by Russian Expressionism and French Cubism, Chagall created a style that was unique to the 20th century. His mastery of color suffuses his paintings and prints as well as the stained glass work that he created for European cathedrals.
