A loosely painted, Impressionist style still-life of peach and coral tinted Alstromeria shown informally arranged in a ceramic jug. Signed, lower right, "Fies" for Gladys Louise Bowman Fies, (American, 1909-2005) and painted circa 1965. This listed California painter studied with Millard Sheets and George Post among others. A lifetime member of the Society of Watercolor Artists, Gladys Fies exhibited widely and with success and was the recipient of numerous medals, prizes and juried awards.
