In a beautiful turn, Eugene Grasset depicts a certain timeless scene of inquisitive research and understanding. A perfect statement for the times. Signed on the stone with the artist's monogram at the lower left, it is a fine impression of the definitive state from the edition on this paper (there was also a small edition on Japan paper). The paper has slight discoloration and minor nicks, well outside of the image at the extreme sheet edge, all of which are typical for works in the publication in which this lithograph appeared. These minor imperfections will be covered by matting once framed. Otherwise, it is in excellent condition, with bright, fresh colors, printed on a sheet with full margins. This work is part of a carefully curated selection by noted fine art expert Jennifer McCloskey, who was formerly affiliated with Doyle Gallery in New York and is now based in San Francisco.
