Born and raised in Waterloo, Ontario, Karin Johannesson is a self-trained artist who is guided by instinct to use mediums in bold and unconventional ways. Her process is spontaneous and intuitive--she likes to work quickly--and completes her paintings in one or two sittings. Besides being inspired by the artistic talents of her two young sons, Karin is inspired by traditional Asian art, minimalist abstract art, and popular culture.
