Why We Love This

Striking woodblock of a stylized landscape. Signed and dated "Norma Sporn, 1958." Sporn was a Los Angeles-based art educator and jewelry designer. According to the partial label on verso, the work was included in the Artist's of Los Angeles and Vicinity Exhibition (in association with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art) in 1958. Displayed with matte in a walnut frame.

For the past three decades, Galerie Sommerlath and French 50s 60s owner Michele Sommerlath has been an art and antiques dealer with a specialty in American and European Mid-Century Modern design. Born in France, she spent the early part of her youth in Morocco before moving back to Paris. She credits both countries with informing her taste for design and color. Her approach to curation is intuitive: She buys what she loves. Her current passion is revisiting and refreshing 1980s design.
