About Watson Family Archive

The Watson Family Archive is a collection of photographs created by three generations of one remarkable Los Angeles family of news photographers. The founder of this dynasty is George Watson, who in 1919 was the second staff photographer hired by the Los Angeles Times. His brother, Coy Watson, had six sons who, after appearing in over 1,000 films as child actors, all chose to be news photographers in their adult lives, recording the extraordinary history of 20th-century Los Angeles.
