Why We Love This

Substantial and period oil painting of Monument Valley, Arizona of Navajo Hogan and rug weaving by Ralph Holmes (American, 1876-1963). Signed lower right corner "Ralph Holmes." In rustic giltwood frame. Holmes studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and in Paris. He was active as a muralist and taught at Otis Art Institute (1923-1948). His landscapes of Yosemite and Bryce Canyon as well as the desert and rolling hills of California have brought him national fame. Image, 40"L x 30"W.
