Why We Love This

Red Wing Pottery (1878-1967) of Red Wing, MN began by producing utilitarian items and did not begin an Art Pottery line until 1929. Pair of candleholders, circa 1930, is from an early series of works featuring the magnolia flower and using an over-wipe glaze technique. Each holder has a single magnolia bud which will hold a taper candle and is supported by a base of three magnolia leaves. Well documented in Red Wing reference books, one is bottom incised "Red Wing USA 1227."
