As described by Billy Blue Eye

Red Wing Pottery (1878-1967) of Red Wing, Minnesota began art pottery production in the late 1920s. Red Wing's designers created items that were always evolving with the fashion of the day. Scalloped rim vase and planter originally designed for Red Wing by George Rumrill in the 1930s, was released under the Rum Rill name. Created in the 1950s and finished in a striking caramel and yellow glaze with a coral interior. Bottom incised "Red Wing U.S.A. 242."
