As described by Clary & Co Antiques

Full-size rosewood veneer settee by 19th-century American furniture master, John Belter. Upholstered in soft turquoise velvet with complementary cotton plaid on the reverse of the center back. Belter garnered an international reputation for the suites of drawing-room furniture he manufactured. This example is unusually restrained.
