As described by The Montecito Collection

Unusual Reed Barton hexagonal silverplate enamel dish with a cool rich red color glaze. The "explosion of color" that pervaded silverware in the 1960s was a reaction to the 1950s Scandinavian enamelware. In 1961, Reed Barton came out with "Color Glaze," an enamel-like translucent painted finish developed primarily by craftsman John Prip. Hallmarked "Reed Barton 578."
