Pillow with vintage red rayon velvet horse blanket used to decorate prized Buzkashi horses in northern Afghanistan circa 1960s. Blanket is decorated with gold-colored metallic lace in a traditional Afghan embroidery technique known as "cherma doozey." Further decorated with a hand-embroidered fine Turkoman tent band section. Backed in handwoven kilim. Sewn shut. Custom-made in USA.
