As described by Christopher de Lotbinière's Rare Books

The Edge of the Sea and Silent Spring by Rachel Carson. Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1955 and 1962. Both second printings of first editions. Although Silent Spring was her masterpiece, Carson had already gained scientific and popular success with her poetic studies of the sea and seashore. Her style is both studious and yet passionately lyrical, as she pioneered attempts to protect the natural world. Both books are fine; jackets have some minor tears and chips.
