As described by
Nicholas A. Basbanes' A Gentle Madness: Bibliophiles, Bibliomanes, and the Eternal Passion for Books was published in New York by Henry Holt in 1995. Hardcover, third printing of the first edition, 638 pages, 55 black and white illustrations. This is a comprehensive and absorbing account of one of the history of books and book collecting, one of the best in modern times. A fine copy in brown paper on boards, black cloth spine, and a shiny gilt dust jacket.
About the Seller
My bookstore, an old wooden building at the edge of a New England trout stream, houses thousands of used, rare and antiquarian books, with particular emphasis on Home and Garden subjects -- food and drink, gardening, interior design and architecture. I also carry titles on fashion, children's books and literature. Books really do furnish a room, beautifully!
