American Furniture: Queen Anne and Chippendale Periods by Joseph Downs. New York: Macmillan, 1952. First Edition. 40 numbered pages, followed by a section of 10 colored plates, black and white plates and authoritative text for 400 historic pieces of furniture from the Winterthur Museum, where the author was curator. Owner's signature on the front endpaper, otherwise a fine copy in terracotta cloth-stamped silver, very lightly chipped dust jacket.
About the Seller
My bookstore, an old wooden building at the edge of a New England trout stream, houses thousands of used, rare and antiquarian books, with particular emphasis on Home and Garden subjects -- food and drink, gardening, interior design and architecture. I also carry titles on fashion, children's books and literature. Books really do furnish a room, beautifully!
