As described by Christopher de Lotbinière's Rare Books

The Proud Highway and Fear and Loathing in America by Hunter S. Thompson. New York: Random House, 1997 and 2000. First printings. A chance to get inside the mind of a great American original, revealing Thompson's vicious eye for detail, rude wit and brutal take on any and all pretenders. Volume I takes us to 1967 and volume II to 1976. Two fine first printings, with slight wear to volume II's jacket spine top corner.
