Why We Love This

History of the Conquest of Mexico with a Preliminary View of the Ancient Mexican Civilization and the Life of the Conqueror Hernando Cortes by William H. Prescott. Philadelphia: David McKay, 1890s. In three volumes. 1,680 pages total. Brown cloth with gilt, top edges yellow, each volume with pictorial frontispiece. Very nice Art Nouveau set. Boards lightly rubbed, some light age-toning to interiors, small bottom tip of Vol. III title page torn off, volumes clean and sound.

About L. Brook Rare Books

I've been a dealer in rare books and art for over 30 years. I spent my early years training and providing animals for films, stage and TV. It was great fun, and evolved into a love for finding rare books and art, with a bias towards things "dog, horse and cat." I look for rarity, condition, and price when deciding which items to offer for sale. Uniqueness and value are what will drive my site—and although my love of animals is obvious, I strive to offer items that are diverse and exciting.
