Why We Love This

"There's something about this pair of elegant vintage glass vanity lamps that gives us the goose bumps. We were listening to Miss Lana Del Rey the other night, and we had this duo lit and it was like we were in a fabulous supper club of yore where maybe Sherman Billingsley was the owner and cigarette girls still existed and Rita Hayworth was sitting next to us and Gloria Vanderbilt had just breezed in with Mr. Truman Capote and guest. Just saying. Clip-on cotton shades with green bands round out the package. And what a delicious package this is. Newly wired and working.”

John Loecke and Jason Oliver Nixon are the dynamic duo behind Madcap Cottage, their Brooklyn-based interior design firm. Known for their whimsical use of color and pattern, the Madcap gents scour the world for eclectic finds that capture their unique and gimlet-eyed view of the world. Imagine a British country house that pairs Granny’s antiques and a spirited dash of chinoiserie chic with a side of Moroccan marvelous and Indian élan. "If you are looking for beige and boring,” says Jason, "go bark up someone else’s tree.”
