Why We Love This

"A vintage "Map of the East" that was perhaps embroidered by an old maid named Maureen in a fit of bonhomie back in the day as she dreamt of a far-flung voyage from Pennsylvania via covered wagon to the deepest, darkest climes of Canada. "Oh, Canada," Maureen pined, as she crafted this glorious masterpiece with its delicious details and completely stereotypical portrayals of the personages who inhabit New England. Gorgeous, in a brown wood frame.

John Loecke and Jason Oliver Nixon are the dynamic duo behind Madcap Cottage, their Brooklyn-based interior design firm. Known for their whimsical use of color and pattern, the Madcap gents scour the world for eclectic finds that capture their unique and gimlet-eyed view of the world. Imagine a British country house that pairs Granny’s antiques and a spirited dash of chinoiserie chic with a side of Moroccan marvelous and Indian élan. "If you are looking for beige and boring,” says Jason, "go bark up someone else’s tree.”
