Why We Love This

"According to Wikipedia, a suzani is an embroidered tribal textile made in Central Asia. According to Jason Oliver, a suzani is a small piece of heaven plucked from those 'stan' countries 'that I have no idea where they might be on the map and plunked into my lap like some leprechaun's horde of gold at the end of the rainbow.' Take your pick: We think Jason Oliver's definition is far more engaging. Anyhow, here's a small piece of GORGEOUS for you to bring home: An antique suzani that we picked up in Turkey like a whirling dervish en route to the bazaar. We love the deep red hues, the blues, the oranges, and the petites fleurs."

John Loecke and Jason Oliver Nixon are the dynamic duo behind Madcap Cottage, their Brooklyn-based interior design firm. Known for their whimsical use of color and pattern, the Madcap gents scour the world for eclectic finds that capture their unique and gimlet-eyed view of the world. Imagine a British country house that pairs Granny's antiques and a spirited dash of chinoiserie chic with a side of Moroccan marvelous and Indian élan. "If you are looking for beige and boring," says Jason, "go bark up someone else's tree."
