Why We Love This

Set of four vintage hand-painted paper lanterns; used in original Mayle store.

London-born and USA-raised, Jane Mayle graduated from Columbia with a degree in literature. In 1998 she co-founded Phare, where slim, chic basics met vintage-inspired pieces. The following year, she ventured out on her own with Mayle. Seeing design as a form of storytelling, the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award finalist gives every creation the sense of something worn by a woman glimpsed in a film, or imagined in a favorite scene from a novel.
