In the early 19th century, European travelers brought lavish Polish designs of French influence to the court weavers of Isfahan. Inspired by these designs, a new category of rug called Polonaise carpets was subsequently created by these highly skilled artisan weavers. The vegetable-dyed colors in this rug are equally rich, but upscale contemporary interpretations of those prized antique carpets. Hand-knotted in Pakistan of 100 percent hand-carded wool, hand-sheared for a low sheen.
