Why We Love This

A print of an original painting of a spoon, set off in a handsome white wood frame.

Since earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2006, Elizabeth Mayville has painted and lived in Grand Rapids, MI. She is a master of both gouache and oil painting and shifts freely between the two mediums, using gouache for its opacity and fast-moving style, and oil for its range of transparency. In her work, Mayville often explores the concept of home, using subjects which evoke that complex sense of comfort.
