To the One I Love the Best by Ludwig Bemelmans. London: Hamish Hamilton, 1955. First printing. "Bemelmans came to Lady Mendl's California house for cocktails one day, and stayed on as a member of the family." Lady Mendl was the grande dame of Benedict Canyon, a pioneer of American interior decoration, an actress, and the gracious hostess of a modern Versilles. With wonderful jacket and a few small decorations by Bemelmans. Slight foxing to end pages and jacket edge damage. Bookplate.
