The seemingly random pattern of the gold leaf gives this bubble-glass bowl an intriguing illusion of movement.
After a successful career in art direction for commercial photography, Tamara Childs began experimenting with gold leaf on her grandmother's old chair. This led to a new career creating designs on glass, by applying tissue-thin sheets of gold, silver, or other metals. Each piece is then polished by hand and lacquered. Most of the glass is designed exclusively by and for the Childs Studio, and because the items are crafted by hand, no two are exactly alike.
