As described by Christopher de Lotbinière's Rare Books

Canaletto by Katherine Baetjer and J. G. Links. New York: Abrams, 1989. First printing. This is the sumptuous catalog of a monumental show of Canaletto's work at the Metropolitan Museum, the first retrospective of his work in America. 388 pages with 180 magnificent illustrations, 167 in color. Although he was often condemned in his lifetime as merely a view painter, Canaletto achieved lasting success, particularly with the English, whose collections form a large part of the show.
