Why We Love This

When John Derian came across a huge selection of antique and vintage wallpaper samples in Paris, he didn’t know what he was going to do with them, but he knew that he had to own them. Going through the collection, he became so captivated by his favorites--which date from the 1800s through the early 20th century--that he decided to reproduce them. Special care was taken to faithfully recreate all the unique characteristics of the originals, from the spectacular saturated colors to details like raw edges. “They’re wallpaper specimens, and that’s how I wanted to present them, floating in the frame,” says the designer.
