Map It Out
This beautiful world map is printed using a lithographic printing process onto a coated, silk-finish paper, with special colors, including silver metallic for the seas. The print is finished with a sealer, to protect the inks and a gloss UV varnish is applied to the landmasses for contrast. Color is used to highlight a country’s border and shape. The detail includes a shaded relief layer, plate tectonic boundaries and direction of movement, capital and major cities, rivers, roads, airports, peaks, time zones and North/South Pole projections. The scale is approximately 1:35,000,000.
This is a magnetic map, and comes with finish strips and magnets.
Founded by Marcus Kirby, Future Mapping has a revolutionary take on traditional cartography. Finally, countries are shown in their true proportional size and areas that normally get distorted -- like Greenland --appear as insets. Kirby’s design background, which includes tailoring and coloring plates, shines through in the flowing colors of the maps. Gone are the busy political boundaries; instead, the colors are fluid and eye-pleasing. Future Mapping is based in London’s East End.
