Premium 19th-century box steamer trunk re-covered in white cotton duck canvas with ornate cast iron finger edging and front dowel closure guides; secured with large brass-plated rivets and nails. Trunk features exceptional ultra-stylized cast iron draw bolts with solid brass lower body. Corner and slat holds are finely detailed cast iron. Handles are the highest-quality stitched English bridle leather secured with fancy cast handle loops and dowels. Taylor lock is solid brass.
Cool, collectible, and fantastically versatile, these are trunks with a past--and a glowing future. Each wonderful antique has been meticulously hand-restored and repurposed as a one-of-a-kind work of art by Randall Barbera, who uses premium leather, rare woods, and centuries-old building and refinishing techniques to create the exquisite centerpieces here. "Punctuating the original design, and then taking it one step further to enhance its personality, is the ultimate goal," says Barbera, who spends a full six weeks on each. No two are alike.
