A rare piece of New York City history from almost two centuries ago, this is an original check. It is hand-signed by G. N. Bleecker, one of the 24 founders of the New York Stock Exchange. It is also autographed by New York City’s mayor of the period. Parts of the check are printed and parts are manuscript. The condition is excellent, but expect to see original paper cuts due to cancellation but no damage. The name of the mayor from the 1820s may vary from the check shown here. Originality guaranteed with a certificate of authenticity from The Caren Archive, a leading source of significant historic printed matter.
