Why We Love This

Judy and Liza. American singer and actress Judy Garland greeting her daughter, actress and singer Liza Minnelli, 1965. Garland; Judy: (1922-69) American entertainer, born in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Part of a show business family, she partnered two sisters in a vaudeville act that led to a film contract. Intelligent and vivacious she appeared in some outstanding film musicals, among them 'The Wizard of Oz' 1939, 'Meet Me in St Louis' 1944, and 'Easter Parade' 1948. The emotional power of her voice was evident from her live stage performances, and her outstanding dramatic ability is shown in the film 'A Star is Born' 1954. This is a fine print of the original photograph. It is set in a gesso and wood frame which has been hand-finished by craftsmen using traditional 17th-century Florentine techniques. The frame is hand-painted in black.

When European designers need the perfect black-and-white photograph, they turn to the archives of the William Stafford Gallery. Based in London, the gallery sources evocative, memorable images from large and small collections across the globe. William Stafford is known for unearthing remarkable undiscovered works by the most important photographers. The combination of the finest paper and ink on each work guarantees perfect clarity for a minimum of 50 years.
