Why We Love This

With beautiful illustrations of pumpkins, this work is a novel kind of identification print. This work started with pencil drawings and evolved into a colorful depiction of a variety of pumpkins found in notable seed catalogs such as Baker Creek, D. Landreth, and Territorial. The result is a gritty but pretty identification poster with a few extra notes particular to the different varieties of pumpkin. The poster is handsomely framed and ready to hang.

Renee Garner and Charlie Lybrand are the wife-and-husband creative duo behind Wolfie & the Sneak. Renee does the drawing while Charlie tinkers to refine the process, and out comes gorgeous graphic art with a scientific bent. Best known for their modern take on identification posters, seeded with an interest in often-overlooked natural details, their works often pay homage to the magnificence of the earth. Since their start in 2005, Wolfie & the Sneak has continued to cultivate their skills and the soil on their own 1-acre permaculture homestead in Matthews, North Carolina. The processes of gardening and building inform their art-making, as does their young daughter Mabel.
