Why We Love This

A lithographic reproduction printed on wove paper bearing the Arches script watermark executed by Charles Sorlier, after a 1960 original lithograph of the same title by the artist. This work bears the printer’s credit line “CH. SORLIER GRAV. LITH.” on the stone lower right. A proof impression on this paper apart from the poster edition of 2500, printed prior to the addition of the poster text to the stone. Published by Editions of Cultural Affairs, Paris, to advertise a touring exhibition of Chagall’s original lithographs; printed at Atelier Fernand Mourlot, Paris. Catalogue reference: Chagall’s Posters Catalogue Raisonné p. 116.
