Why We Love This

An almost photographically realistic rendering of a sparsely furnished bedroom, with the four-poster bed stretching slightly outside the composition to create a startlingly intimate feel. An American artist who painted primarily in his places of residences -- the Pennsylvania countryside and the Maine coast -- Andrew Wyeth was a realist painter who uniquely distilled the feeling of an interior and a landscape. Christina's World, which hangs in the Museum of Modern Art in New York, is perhaps his most famous work.
