A superb impression of Arwas’ second and final state, showing rich burr throughout, printed after the reduction of the plate. This work is hand-signed in pencil in the margin at the lower right Louis Legrand, also signed in the plate at the upper left. From the edition of 65 on this paper, numbered “7/65” in pencil also lower right. Taken from one of eight plates from the album Les Bars, published by Gustave Pellet, Paris, with his monogram stamp (Lugt 1193) in red ink at the lower right corner of the plate.Literature regarding this artwork: Loys Delteil, Manuel de l’Amateur d’Estampes des XiXe at XXe Siécles (1801-1924), vol. II, Dorbon-Ainé, Paris, p. 346. This work is part of a carefully curated selection by noted fine art expert Jennifer McCloskey, who was formerly affiliated with Doyle Gallery in New York and is now based in San Francisco.
