Rays of sunlight shine through the windows of the vaulted ceiling in Grand Central Station, Manhattan, New York, and illuminate the floor below. Grand Central Station has the largest number of platforms of any station in the world, a total of 44 with 67 tracks coming in and out on two levels, above and below ground. This gesso and wood frame is hand-finished by craftsmen using traditional 17th century Florentine techniques. This frame is hand-painted in black.

When European designers need the perfect black-and-white photograph, they turn to the archives of the William Stafford Gallery. Based in London, the gallery sources evocative, memorable images from large and small collections across the globe. William Stafford is known for unearthing remarkable undiscovered works by the most important photographers. The combination of the finest paper and ink on each work guarantees perfect clarity for a minimum of 50 years.
