This carpet is crafted using a Wilton weave, a type of rug construction that originated in England hundreds of years ago. Though a Wilton rug generally keeps a quiet presence due to its sparse use of color, its exceptional weave makes it quite durable and especially useful in high-traffic areas of the home, reassuring you that it's not only a stylish addition to any space, but a practical one too.

One of the most influential interior designers of his generation, David Hicks (1929-1998) has had a foremost influence on contemporary designers of both fashion and home. His early clients were a mix of aristocracy, media, and fashion -- luminaries such as Vidal Sassoon, Helena Rubinstein and the Duchess of Rutland, just to name a few. After marrying Lady Pamela Mountbatten in 1960, he found himself soon making carpets for Windsor Castle and decorating the Prince of Wales' first apartment at Buckingham Palace. In 1963, Hicks started to design his own patterned textiles when he found none on the market that suited his own taste. His dynamic sense for color and pattern formed the look of his iconic style, which still feels fresh and modern after all these years.
