Why We Love This

A great souvenir tin from the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, made by MA Craven. Front scene shows the main stadium, and the sides show the flags of the countries who participated. Though the back is scratched, you can see that it has a map of Melbourne. Cookies or cakes were probably sold in this tin, maybe stationary, as a souvenir. The Latin term on the front means "we gather strength as we go."

About Tara Home and Gift

This mother/daughter team from southern Maine has been in antiques and home decor nearly 50 years. Their passion has brought them overseas to Europe and England, across this continent and throughout Canada. Through the years they've accumulated many fun finds, and some wonderfully one-of-a-kind pieces for English or French cottage decor.
