Why We Love This

Set of four hand-colored engravings by Georges Cuvier (1769–1832). As a young adult, Cuvier took a position as tutor to a noble family in Normandy where he also made a reputation for himself as a naturalist. In 1795, Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire invited him to come to Paris where he was appointed as a professor of animal anatomy at the newly reformed Musée National d'Histoire Naturelle. Cuvier lectured and researchedat the Musée National, amazing his colleagues with his energy and devotion to science.

About Vintage Print Gallery

An antique print is a dazzling way to add a sense of history to your surroundings. And when the print is impeccably framed, you'll be adding elegance to a wall. Vintage Print Gallery's collection is impressive not just in the quality of its offering but also in its breadth, which ranges from 18th-century botanical studies to 19th-century equestrian chromolithographs, to fashion illustrations from the early 20th century.
