Soapstone slab top on rich European walnut base by Julius Rindler, New York, 1940s.
Paul Kratz of Harris Kratz launched his antiques career in New York City two decades ago, then honed his experience with shops in Palm Beach, Los Angeles, and Miami. Now, back in Manhattan at the New York Design Center, he provides the design-savvy from all over the world with a thoughtfully curated blend of midcentury designs and period antiques. “I love pieces that transcend the idea of period,” he says. “Rooms are more alive when good 20th-century pieces are mixed with older things.”
