As described by Billy Blue Eye

Red Wing Pottery (1878-1967) of Red Wing, MN began an Art Pottery line in 1929. This pair of 1940s candleholders comes from a series of works created using an over-wipe technique to get color into the recessed areas. Each holder has two candle cups, one 5.5H and the other 4.5"H. Together they hold four candles. This pair is well documented in Red Wing books and both have faint bottom markings "Red Wing 397."
