This contemporary linear design plays with shades of sage green, silver and cream. It is hand-knotted in a gorgeous blend of allo, Chinese silk and Tibetan wool, giving the piece a soft feel and luminescent look. The plush feel is due to the sumptuous 100-knot-per square inch density and 3/8" pile height. The fiber is knotted with a crossed foundation.
Artist and rug historian John Kurtz founded New Moon in part to preserve and promote the age-old traditions of Tibetan crossed weaving, a laborious method that results in a dense, durable rug that will maintain its regal beauty for generations. Each rug is handwoven in Nepal, free from child labor, using the finest Tibetan wool and Chinese silk. The inspiration for each rug varies, from classic Persian motifs to Navajo patterns to abstract designs inherent in nature, but each bears the unmistakable elegance and power of true artistry.
