Why We Love This

A contemporary pattern inspired by tribal designs, this rug features tones of forest green, rich brown and cream. This piece is hand-knotted in a gorgeous blend of allo, Chinese silk and Tibetan wool, giving the piece a soft feel and luminescent look. The fiber is knotted with a crossed foundation, then washed exclusively with soap and water, using no added chemicals. This allows the natural lanolin in the wool to remain intact, meaning it will develop its own patina with use and last generations to come.

Artist and rug historian John Kurtz founded New Moon in part to preserve and promote the age-old traditions of Tibetan crossed weaving, a laborious method that results in a dense, durable rug that will maintain its regal beauty for generations. Each rug is handwoven in Nepal, free from child labor, using the finest Tibetan wool and Chinese silk. The inspiration for each rug varies, from classic Persian motifs to Navajo patterns to abstract designs inherent in nature, but each bears the unmistakable elegance and power of true artistry.
