As described by Dinnerparty Antiques

Striking drop-out, or negative effect, employed by Hoosier Salon artist, Burling Boaz, Jr (1891-1968). The colors are reversed from normal perspective as we might see in a photo negative. The scene features a typical Indiana or perhaps Ohio landscape. Boaz also taught art at the Heron Art School in Indianapolis. Signed "Boaz 3R" lower right. Image,11.5"H x 14"L.
